Beta #1

I’m going to keep this short because I’m prepping for my job interview as if it were the California Bar Exam. So, here are the results from yesterday’s Beta.

Bhcg: 224

Progesterone: 45

Estradiol: 259

TSH: 2.51

I am THRILLED with that progesterone number because as I mentioned in my last post I stopped supplementation at 7dpiui. However, I did use one insert the night before the test, the day I got those magical 2-lines, so perhaps that can account for my healthy-ish number. Last time, my first beta revealed a progesterone level of just 14, so of course I’m hoping this result is a good sign. Hoping and praying, but also trying not to think about it! Hardest thing ever.

On another note, I think my Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor is psychic. At my last appointment, BEFORE I knew I was pregnant, I asked her for two weeks worth of my regular herbs. She refused. She said, “In case you are pregnant I want you to have the pregnancy supporting brew.”

“I’m not pregnant,” I sniped a few times before she shut me up with a needle in the forehead.

When I called on Saturday to ask for those supporting herbs she spoke of she said, “I already gave them to you!”

She had replaced my regular formula with supporting herbs because she “just knew.”

WEIRDVILLE, USA people. My acupuncturist is also a fortune teller, apparently.

In other news, my boobs have lost all soreness and other than being fuzzy brained, tired, and hungrier than usual I got nothing. I would kill for sore breasts and nausea. KILL.

What about my newly pregnant sisters in anxiety out there…. Anything? Nausea? Breast Tenderness? Whatcha got?

god, we’re like crack feinds with these early pregnancy symptoms, aren’t we? why do i feel perfectly honest and certain about telling you not to worry about not having symptoms when my own symptom free state is driving me mad as we speak? but really. holy congratulations. those are some nice solid numbers, sisterfriend. dear universe please allow us to compare belly shots through march. xo!

Crack fiend for symptoms is an excellent way to describe me right now! I keep thinking hunger is a symptom and then I remind myself that I just like to eat. Two pieces of gluten-free toast and two eggs and one glass or orange juice later…. “dear universe please allow us to compare belly shots through march” is my new mantra. 🙂

Stellar numbers! As you know, I’m also going crazy with lack of symptoms (other than symptoms from the PIO injections, which I’ve been feeling pretty much since the transfer, so…), but everyone assures me that’s normal, so I’m going to do the same for you. Totally normal! And congrats again!

Those are great numbers! Wishing you many, many more in the days ahead. And Daryl’s right…no symptoms IS normal! I had very few symptoms my whole first trimester with this pregnancy, especially this early on. There are plenty of things to worry over, but don’t worry about THAT for a second!

Great news! I have had very sore boobs, but I am sure it’s the progesterone since I’m pretty sure it started before I was pregnant! Apart from feeling very tired, I’m fine. I keep wondering if I feel vaguely nauseous, but it’s probably wishful thinking. I just want to feel pregnant so bad! I’m getting a lot of headaches too. Mind you, I’d feel tired and headachy if I was stressed as well.. And I am pretty stressed right now!!!

    • Steph Mignon

I HAD very sore boobs up until I think I implanted (11 or 12dpiui – I think I’m a late implanter). Now they’re gone. :/ I’ll try not to read into it, it’s just sooooo hard! At least we can be stressed together, right? Or something.

      • barrenbetty

Yes! Sharing the stress definitely helps. You are pretty early for symptoms yet… They don’t normally seem to kick in (from my extensive googling research) until 6-8 weeks. My boss just had a baby and had no symptoms, sickness, anything her entire pregnancy!

Those are great numbers! That progesterone # is crazy high! My nausea didn’t start until around six weeks. And for me, every symptom comes and goes (except the sore boobs, but not everyone has that). Don’t worry (ha, ha, ha, ha).

Great beta! One little suggestion, I know you’re doing your research but make sure you have a couple well thought out questions to ask the recruiter/interviewer about the job/company. And you may want to have a little elevator pitch about why your skills and experience will benefit the organization.

    • Steph Mignon

Thank you sooo much for the suggestion! I have TONS of questions, but agree that I need to work on my elevator pitch. I’m actually at a coffee shop now continuing to outline Food Law. Whatever happens, at least I’ll know I did my best.
